Italian Bread or Rolls
Basic Recipe
In very large bowl using whisk, mix 1 1/2 t dry yeast with 2 cups flour. Stir in 2 cups hot water from tap (very hot to touch, about 120 degrees) to form smooth batter. Alternate adding additional hot water and flour by the cup until a total of five cups each. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and let sit at room temperature until nearly triple in bulk and filled with bubbles. This can take two hours or more depending on room temperature.
Add:
3 T Coarse Salt
1 T Sugar
1/4 C Vegetable Oil
Beat with Hand Mixer.
Mix in additional flour as necessary to form slightly sticky bread dough.
